Re: Caveat for Variable Spending Plan

So when you add descriptions of the spending plans, perhaps mention that the variable spending plan implies that your target spending declines by z fraction of initial spending at the end of the cycle period. I apologize that there aren't any good descriptions of the spending plans out there. That ...

Re: NodeJS module giving differing results

I mean, it could be a whole host of things. How you're calculating inflation, which data set are you using (Shiller?), how you're calculating year-to-year gains, etc. Any of these things could compound and cause issues. Do a simulation on cFIREsim, and on the output page download the CSV file. There...

Re: No output for VPW

I am absolutely not seeing the same thing for any browser. Do something for me. Sometimes it's not clearing the cache that works, but refreshing the browser several times to reload the cached javascript (I know). Try going to cfiresim.com, let it load, refresh the page, let it load, then click the a...

Re: No output for VPW

What browser are you using? Can you show me a screenshot? If you've saved the simulation, can you tell me the ID attached to it in the name?

Re: wildly different results from fourpercentrule.com

I can totally understand that mentality. Even I use more than one tool to figure things out. I would try http://www.ontrajectory.com and/or http://www.firecalc.com. Regardless of the source, I find it weird that the fourpercentrule.com doesn't even represent the same numbers as the study that coined...

Re: wildly different results from fourpercentrule.com

Interesting. I don't know, I'm a little suspicious of what that site is doing. If you set it up to be the actual "4% rule" which would be $1M portfolio, 30 years of retirement, $40k/yr inflation-adjusted spending, it only gives you 75% success, whereas the Trinity Study had that at 95%. I'...

Re: wildly different results from fourpercentrule.com

I apologize for the delayed response. January was a busy month for me.

I could NOT recreate the results that you gave on fourpercentrule.com. I set it for the same criteria, and it showed 100% success.

Could you show me some screenshots?
